Sip and play on the Front Range.
Few towns in the world offer better opportunities for a stroll or bike ride followed by a refreshing glass of beer than Golden, Colorado.
For one thing, this small town, located just 12 miles west of Denver, brews more beer than any other city in country, largely due to the fact that hometown favorite Coors Brewery is the world’s largest single-site brewery in the world. But Golden also has an assortment of small craft breweries producing delicious ales, wheat beers, pilsners, and stouts.
Golden is also located in an area of spectacular natural beauty. To the east are two mesas—high, flat-topped plateaus—and to the west, Golden is the spot where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains. Most notable of the Front Range peaks which tower over Golden is Lookout Mountain, which boasts a road filled with hairpin turns and climbs an unbelievable 1,200 feet in just 4 miles.
Down below, Clear Creek cuts through rock to create a beautiful canyon before spilling out into and rushing through downtown Golden.
All this nature has made Golden an outdoor recreational mecca. Golden is home to 25 miles of paved trails and thousands of acres of open space. It is also home to one of the nation’s best manmade kayak and canoe whitewater river courses, and hang gliders can often be seen floating down from Mt. Zion. Three canyons near Golden offer year-round rock climbing, while Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers camping, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and mountain biking opportunities.
Finally there are bike, kayak, hiking, and climbing shops on nearly every corner of Golden, where you can buy or rent equipment or sign up for lessons. No experience is necessary to enjoy Golden’s world-class recreation. We’ll see you in Golden.
